    Aerobatics - Principles and Practice

This book is designed to tempt you to explore the wonderful world of aerobatic flight. It shows the basic manoeuvres in simple diagrams and the techniques for those manoeuvres are clearly explained. It also provides an introduction to the effects of the forces of manoeuvring flight on the aircraft structure and on the pilot's body.

Aerobatics represent the most satisfying form of visual flight and can be both challenging and rewarding. The scope is unlimited. The important proviso is that you learn the basics thoroughly and from someone who enjoys and knows aerobatics. Choose the training aircraft and school carefully and try to fly regularly.

With its excellent diagrammatic depiction of the manoeuvres and clear description of the techniques, together with the introduction to the effects of the forces of manoeuvring flight on both the aircraft structure and the pilots body this book should serve as an admirable adjunct to basic aerobatic instruction.

Three Points - Flying a Tailwheel Aircraft

A tailwheel aeroplane is more difficult to operate on the ground because the centre of gravity is behind the mainwheels; therefore, it tends to deviate from a straight path during taxi, take-off and landing. Since tailwheel aeroplanes demand more piloting skills, flying one well is the sign of a good pilot. Contains theoretical and practical knowledge needed to master tailwheel flying and includes experience of many seasoned tailwheel pilots.

    Multi-Engine Piston

Robson has prepared this manual for pilots embarking on their first type endorsement on a Multi-Engined aircraft. He felt that a general but detailed text was needed, allowing the student to prepare for the rating whilst assisting the instructor in structuring the programme and its content. The manual is in two parts.

    Flight Unlimited '95

The original edition of Flight Unlimited was published in 1983, as collaboration between Eric Muller and Annette Carson. In 15 years of aerobatic flying, Swiss pilot Eric Muller had won numerous National and European Championship titles and regularly appeared in the top World European Championship titles and World Championship rankings.

He was probably the foremost practising - and medal winning - theorist in his field: an authority on flying and judging techniques, and a father figure of modern sport aerobatics.

Annette Carson, author of Flight Fantastic: the History of Aerobatics, has been involved in international aerobatics for 20 years during which she has been a Contest Director, Team Manager, International Delegate and Secretary to the FAI's International Aerobatics Commission (CIVA), and a member of the International Jury at World Championships. Until Eric Muller's death in 1990, they formed a regular writing team, contributing to aviation publications and to the rules and guidelines by which International Aerobatics are conducted.

This new version of Flight Unlimited, revised by Annette Carson, has been expanded and brought into line with present-day organisation and judging.

Air Pilots Manual Volume 4H - Helicopter Technical

    AIR PILOT'S MANUAL 4 (H) The Helicopter – Technical

    • SECTION 1 – Principles of Flight (H)
    • SECTION 2 – Aircraft General Knowledge (H)
    • SECTION 3 – Operational Procedures (H)
    • SECTION 4 – Flight Performance and Planning (H)

This manual is intended to provide PPL students with comprehensive study material to cover the EASA Part-FCL & UK CAA Part-FCL syllabus for the four helicopter-specific examinations at PPL level: ‘Aircraft General Knowledge’, ‘Principles of Flight’, ‘Operational Procedures’, ‘Flight Performance & Planning’, and the alternative engines paper in ‘Aircraft General Knowledge’ covering Turbine Engines.

The manual covers all subjects as required by the EASA Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC), in accordance with the Annex to ED Decision 2011/016/R, which has now been imported into UK law by the EU Withdrawal Act 2018 and knowledge of all subjects herein can be tested either as part of the written examination process, or orally during a PPL Skill Test.

Flying as a Private Pilot is a challenging, but extremely, rewarding hobby. There is a large volume of extremely important material to learn. For the sake of safety of the pilot and their passengers, this learning task must not be underestimated or skimped. Accordingly, we highly recommend that student pilots read each manual in full before attempting each PPL examination to ensure understanding and depth of knowledge. Alternatively, we recommend they seek a dedicated PPL Groundschool service which offers either one-on-one tuition or group study/refresher sessions on the entire syllabus in each subject prior to sitting each examination.

Practice sample questions and answers are included at the end of each section to help students to complete their studies.

    Microlights and Small Seaplanes

Anna Markey started her flying career on paragliders in the Wessex hills, before taking to powered flight on flexwing microlights at Old Sarum airfield. In parallel with pursuing an international career as a financial and IT consultant, she moved on to 3-axis microlights, a PPL and light aircraft seaplane rating. Subsequently she became a microlight instructor and took a well-timed career break, seizing an opportunity to instruct on seaplane microlights in Sweden - 'the best seaplane environment in Europe'. Since then, Anna has become a BMAA examiner and now offers the microlight seaplane rating to UK pilots from her Swedish lake-land base at Siljan Airpark.

This book evolved out of a need to bridge the gap in training material between light aircraft and smaller seaplanes. Anna uses the amphibious Seamax 3-axis flying boat and Polaris am-FIB flexwing for training.

All the requirements for the issue, revalidation and renewal of all EASA pilot licences from the newly introduced LAPL through to the ATPL are covered along with licensing and Air operations, (EU) 965/2012, requirements for cabin crew members. Since its publication in November 2011 (EU) 1178/2011 has been subject to several amendments, this publication includes all these amendments up to (EU) 245/2014.
